Our objective was to elevate the CTLS 2020 SE's performance while simultaneously reducing its empty weight, all while preserving the elements pilots cherish about the CTLS. The CTLS 2020 SE features a rigid carbon fiber cockpit that forms a safety cabin, along with the inclusion of four-point harnesses. Additionally, the standard airframe emergency parachute system (AEPS) adds a significant layer of safety to the CTLS 2020.

Our objective was to enhance the performance of the CTLS 2020 SE and reduce its empty weight without compromising the features that pilots love. The CTLS 2020 SE includes a rigid carbon fiber cockpit that forms a safety cabin and comes equipped with four-point harnesses. Moreover, the standard airframe emergency parachute system (AEPS) greatly enhances the safety features of the CTLS 2020.

The upgraded interior of the CTLS 2020 enhances its comfort and contemporary appeal. Designed to accommodate both tall and smaller individuals comfortably, the spacious cabin boasts ample storage options. A convenient jacket shelf and large outside baggage doors facilitate easy access for bulky items. With dual storage compartments allowing for up to 50 kg (110 lb) of baggage, the CTLS 2020 ensures secure storage within the cabin area. Two rear cabin windows contribute to an airy cockpit atmosphere. The seats, featuring molded foam padding and pneumatically adjustable seat cushion and lumbar sections, provide unmatched comfort.

The CTLS utilizes a carbon/aramid fuselage to maximize cabin space and minimize drag for smoother airflow to the stabilizer. Its sleek wing design reduces drag and offers excellent cockpit visibility. Winglets enhance climb, cruising range, and aileron control at lower speeds. The new cowling and spinner enhance cooling, reduce drag, and improve access to the powerplant. While the CTLS 2020 SE boasts an impressive top speed, all CTLS models are fuel-efficient across various speeds.

ADVANCED AERODYNAMICS

The highly durable advanced composite main gear boasts exceptional strength and resilience, coupled with flexibility that absorbs more than 50% of landing energy upon the initial rebound. Additionally, urethane polymer shock absorbers integrated into the nose gear provide effective dampening, aiding in the mitigation of harsh landing impacts.

The engineering team at Flight Design developed the CTLS prioritizing safety, performance, and comfort. The carbon-aramid composite cabin of the cockpit serves as a protective shield for both you and your passenger. Engine mount and carbon fuselage attachment points are engineered to minimize the risk of engine intrusion into the cabin area. Standard four-point harnesses and crushable fuselage elements work together to absorb energy and reduce the potential impact on the pilot and passenger. Robust windshield uprights and a sturdy upper construction further enhance the protective features. Fuel tanks are strategically positioned in the wings, ensuring distance from the occupants. The CTLS 2020 incorporates various enhancements to its fuel system to provide consistent fuel flow under extreme conditions while maintaining safety with its single-lever operation. Rigorous testing, including static tests and flight trials, has been conducted to certify compliance with major Airworthiness Standards, including ASTM–FAA Light-Sport Aircraft requirements, CAAC type, and production certificates, EASA CS-LSA, and German LTF–UL. Each CTLS undergoes comprehensive flight testing by engineering test pilots and is reassembled and inspected by factory-trained experts in the destination country.
